What does 3D Inspect do better than a standard product page?
A standard product page often shows one finished image and a list of options. 3D Inspect lets the buyer try those options: change the finish, choose an attachment or see how the product moves. The result updates immediately in the same view.
The useful part is what happens next. The buyer does not need to write 'the dark one with the wider part'. The enquiry can include the exact version they were viewing and its configuration reference.
A design product and an industrial machine are different buying situations
This site shows the same idea in two different demos. With the lamp, a buyer compares finish and lighting mood. With the wheel loader, they start from the job, select an attachment and try safely limited movement. In both cases, the buyer can see the difference before speaking with sales.
The Industrial experience is intentionally a lightweight demonstration, not a production or safety model of a specific machine. In a client project, the motion limits are agreed from the real product data and what sales needs to show.
What belongs in the first demo?
One practical rule: do not reproduce the whole product catalogue in the first version. A stronger pilot starts with one valuable product and a few choices that create the most questions, visibly change the product or determine whether it fits the job.
If the buyer has to work through dozens of technical fields, the configurator begins to feel like an internal system rather than a sales tool. Scope follows the buying decision, not the number of fields in a database.

How do the buyer's choices reach sales?
The configurator state can be stored in the page URL. A buyer can return to the same version, share it with a colleague or send it with a form. Sales can receive the finish, application, attachment, configuration ID and any note or product link the buyer adds.
A PIM, ERP, ecommerce or quoting integration can be added later when there is a real business need. A focused pilot does not have to wait for a large system project.
How is the browser experience kept lightweight?
The model is optimised for the web: unnecessary geometry is removed, textures are compressed and the material count is kept in check. Mobile controls are designed separately because a touch configurator cannot be a shrunken desktop interface.
On a weaker device, a high-quality static product image can replace the live model while the choices and enquiry still work. Reduced-motion preferences are respected as well. The 3D should help sales, not turn the page into an obstacle course.
Where does the 3D model come from?
Existing CAD or 3D source material can speed up delivery, but it is not mandatory. A model can be built from scratch, or an existing model can be reduced and prepared for the browser.

How is 3D Inspect different from 3D Impact and 3D visuals?
A 3D visual is a finished image or animation. 3D Impact is a complete landing page where 3D creates a strong first impression around a product, place or atmosphere.
In 3D Inspect, the buyer changes the product. They try options, save the selected version and send it to sales. The right choice depends on whether the product needs to be shown, presented or actually configured.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need an existing CAD or 3D model?
Not always. Existing CAD or 3D material can be assessed and optimised for the browser. If no model exists, one can be produced within an agreed scope through Loistopixel.
Does a 3D product configurator work on mobile?
Yes, when the model, camera and controls are designed for mobile. Weaker devices can show a static product image while the choices and form continue to work.
Can 3D Inspect be added to an existing website?
Often, yes. The implementation depends on the current website and whether the configurator gets its own page or sits inside a product page. I check that before scoping the pilot.
How long does the first pilot take?
Timing depends on whether the 3D model is ready and how many options or moving parts are needed. Once I have checked one product and its source material, I give a schedule before work begins.
How many options belong in the first version?
Three to five buyer-relevant choices are often enough. A good first version handles one buying situation properly instead of trying to copy the entire catalogue.
How much does a 3D Inspect pilot cost?
Cost depends on model readiness, the number of options, motion and any integrations. I check the source material first and then quote one clearly scoped pilot product.
